BIRDS OF A FEATHER 2010 CONVENTION
REFLECTIONS

Hi guys,

In the haze following the forum, it did not occur to me to extend a thank you to all of you for that opportunity.

The experience as a whole was very rewarding and I feel a tremendous amount of gratitude to have been on the same panel as Dana and Kathaleen.  To reflect on  where I came from to where I sat with all of you is sometimes a bit overwhelming. I am a lucky man.

Thank you again for the opportunity and for all the work that you have done.

    Take care,
    Ian

Hello everybody,

I am back at the beautiful beaches of the outer banks of NC with my family.
Just a quick note to thank you for having me speak at the convention.
It is truly an honor to be a part of Birds and to have such wonderful people in my life.

I love you very much.
God Bless you.

Dana A.

What the San Antonio convention lacked in terms of weather, it more
than made up for in terms of spirituality and fellowship. It was
great to see some old friends we have not seen for several years and
many new ones. Fritz attended looking great and did the sobriety
countdown and the pig poem. Thank you, Fritz...
This convention was planned and managed by a committee who had
conference calls every 6 weeks or so. Members of that committee were
me, Dick B, Rusty N, Scott H, Bill B, Tom B, Fred R, and Adam E.
Rusty did a superb job of negotiating with the Sheraton Gunter Hotel.
The facilities were great. We solicited three members to tell their
story at a forum at the AA convention. Dana A, Kathaleen W. and Ian
G. were our speakers. Each one had a different background and focus
and all did an outstanding job of telling their story. Scott was the
moderator. Scott arranged for us to have our own hospitality room. I
was very impressed when I went to the AA website and saw the list of
hospitality rooms. There weren't that many. But there we were! That
hospitality room gave us the opportunity to let people know that we
are there and our website, which is a professional one provides all
the information a recovering alcoholic pilot would need to find help.
I have ordered the MP3 version of the forum. I understand that gives
me the right to email it to others without breaking any copyright
laws. So, anyone who wants it, send me an email to
bethflys@gmail.com. I haven't received the file yet and have company
coming in a few days so won't be able to work on it for at least
another week.
Next year's convention will be in September 8-11 in
Calgary. So, mark your calendars now. Calgary should be lovely that
time of year.

My thanks to everyone who attended. Hope to see you all next year.
