Tanya Kroge
Honorary Bird
Tanya Kroge is an aviation-family advocate and business owner who is completing graduate-level master’s studies in counseling. She is also currently working on post-baccalaureate studies in preparation for future doctoral work. As the spouse of an airline pilot in recovery, she brings lived experience and a personal understanding of the challenges families face while navigating treatment, recovery, HIMS, and the FAA medical-certification process. In recognition of her involvement in the aviation recovery community, she was named an Honorary Bird at the 2025 BOAF International Convention in Nanaimo, British Columbia.
She founded the Aviation Family Network after recognizing how difficult it can be for families to find clear information and meaningful support from people who understand both recovery and aviation culture. She also chairs the BOAF Al-Anon Atlanta Nest and facilitates SMART Aviation Family meetings, creating opportunities for families to connect through different approaches to recovery. Her advocacy focuses on reducing isolation, strengthening family education, and ensuring that spouses and loved ones are included in the recovery conversation. Through outreach, support meetings, educational programs, and collaboration throughout the aviation community, she works to help families feel informed, connected, and less alone.
